How Do You Install A Gate Latch On A Wood Fence?

1. First open the door so that you can operate both the inner and outer door handles at the same time. Locate the two screws on the inside door handle cover that hold the inside and outside door handles together. 2. Use a cross-head screwdriver to turn the two screws counterclockwise and pull the inner door handle away from the door and pull the outer door handle away from the door. 3. Use a cross-head screwdriver to remove the two screws from the outer edge of the fixed latch panel door. Out the door, pull out the latch plate assembly. 4. Use a cross screwdriver to pull the two fixed strike panels on the door frame counterclockwise and pull the door frame panels off. 5. Place the new latch plate assembly through the edge of the hole on the door. The curved portion of the latch bolt should be pointing toward the outside of the door. Wood screws included with the latch retaining plate door handle kit. 6. The outer door handle is inserted from the outside when entering the door. There are usually two sleeves, inside the cylinder of the latch hole, that will fit. Press the door handle until the cover is tight against the door. 7. Insert the inner door handle into the door from the inside of the door. Insert the two set screws into the holes in the cover plate, turn the screw threads clockwise into the outer door pull glove, and tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. 8. On the curved side of the door frame that curves around the inside of the door frame, fix the impact plate and the screws included in the kit.
